Benue: After we escaped, they did not bother to go after us- Man says after escaping from kid nappers
One of the three survivors who managed to escape from the kidnappers of the Benue Links passengers, has shared an account of their ordeal in the hands of the kidnappers and how himself and others managed to escape from them.
According to Daily Trust, it was reported that the survivor, who identified himself as Raymond Lubem Mbabov, said that on Thursday, he was returning home after attending a Chinese Exhibition in Lagos State.
He said all of a sudden, the kidnappers started shooting sporadically, stopped their bus, lined them up and walked them inside the bush.
Raymond alleged that instantly, he made up his mind to escape from the kidnappers. He thought if they shoot him from behind, at least his family members will see his corpse to bury, saying he was ready to bear the consequences for his actions. So, he ran off with four others, each going in a different direction.
He said, “After we escaped, they did not bother to go after us but concentrated on the remaining ones. I went into the bush and there observed, that the military were riding on bike and shooting into the air to where they Benue Links vehicle was parked. I did not leave the rice farm.
I later went to the military point and explained myself and asked them to try and rescue the others.”
