We’re Kicking Keke Napep Out of Abuja” – Wike
The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has announced plans to halt the operation of tricycles, commonly known as Keke Napep, in specific areas of Abuja.
Wike assured the public that the issue of one-chance incidents would also be addressed promptly in Nigeria’s capital, assuring that there would be no Keke Napep operations in Asokoro and Maitama.
He further disclosed that the Federal Capital Development Authority (FCDA) would soon introduce buses and taxis to solve transportation challenges and curb criminal activities associated with one-chance incidents in the FCT.
These buses and taxis will ply all the routes in Asokoro and Maitama. We are kicking out Keke Napep, at least in these areas. Some of these Keke Napep are agents of criminals,” Wike said.
The ex-Governor of Rivers State emphasized that having buses would encourage people to commute from their respective areas to work and back.
Addressing Estate Developers and Residents’ Associations in the Federal Capital Territory, the minister urged residents to collaborate with the FCDA by fulfilling their tax obligations.
“It is painful, but it’s an inconvenience that we must face,” Wike added.
