Cultists Claim the Life of Broadcaster in Edo State
In an incident that occurred on Christmas Eve, the city of Benin in Edo State mourns the untimely demise of Hillary Odia, a staff member of Independent Television and Radio.
Odia fell victim to an act of violence perpetrated by cultists, around the 2nd East Circular area where the tragic incident occurred.
Confirming the news, Chidi Nwabuzor, spokesperson for the Edo State Police Command, revealed, “A sizeable number of arrests of the secret cult members of various cult groups has been made in different locations in the state.” The suspects are slated to face prosecution as the investigation unfolds.
The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) in the state has called upon security agencies, particularly the Nigeria Police Force, to unravel the circumstances surrounding this act.
The NUJ, expressing sorrow, extended prayers for the repose of Odia’s soul and urged his grieving family to find solace in the positive legacy he leaves behind.
